CRA Has Secured the Primary Optical Connections for Prague Gateway Data Centre
CRA has contracted a complete optical connection for the upcoming Prague Gateway DC data centre. The optical infrastructure for the data centre will be built in cooperation with partners – SITEL, Quantcom, TTC, Energtel and ČD Telematika. Some of the routes have already been physically completed, while others are in the implementation phase.
The optical network will connect Prague Gateway DC with the Prague backbone network of CRA, including connections to key nodes DC Tower, CeCOLO and other major Prague locations. This creates a solid optical foundation for capacity, redundant and scalable services of the data center, which is being prepared, among other things, for the most demanding AI tasks.
"A completely contracted optical connection is a major milestone for Prague Gateway DC. We are preparing the data center for operations that cannot afford a single weak link in connectivity. That is why we have chosen a combination of our own resources and cooperation with partners who have long held a strong position in the backbone infrastructure," says Petr Holý, CTO of CRA.
When building connectivity, CRA combines several approaches: increasing the capacity of its own existing routes, buying or long-term lease of infrastructure from partners with the subsequent blowing of new optical cables, and joint implementation of completely new routes. The work is being carried out in parallel – some sections have already been completed, others are in the implementation phase. The fibre-optic connection builds on the steps taken so far in the preparation of Prague Gateway DC, including recently concluded capacity reservations with several interested parties, such as Polaris.
