An open platform for server virtualisation and containerisation. Free of licence fees and with professional support, it provides everything you need for rapid deployment – from a single virtual machine to an enterprise cluster – as well as easy migration from other virtualisation platforms.
A comprehensive, open, and licence-free platform for server virtualisation and containerisation
Leverage synergies and build your IT infrastructure from our services
The Proxmox virtualisation platform is designed for anyone seeking an adequate alternative to VMware in times of rising licence fees, or considering a virtualised IT solution as a service, whether on their own premises or in our data centre.
However, Proxmox is only one of the pieces of the puzzle within the ecosystem of Ceske Radiokomunikace’s IT services. We offer both IT infrastructure services (IaaS) – private, public, or hybrid – including their management (Managed Services), as well as operating platform services (PaaS). CRA’s data centres provide a secure environment for dedicated private cloud infrastructure solutions. These services are complemented by close cooperation with clients, collaboration and assistance in solving often non-standard requirements, during installations, updates, or in the deployment of new services.
Easy management, transparent costs, and high security go hand in hand with more than ten years of experience of our IT specialists. We do not sell packages, we design solutions tailored to our clients’ specific requirements and take care of their smooth operation.

What Proxmox Virtual Environment can do
Proxmox VE is an open-source virtualisation platform based on Debian Linux, with a web-based graphical user interface. In a single package, it combines virtual machines as well as containers, a high-availability cluster, a firewall, cooperation with various types of storage, live migration (moving running virtual machines and containers between servers without service interruption), the option to use software-defined networking (SDN), and the creation of a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).
No paid licences, low operating costs and independence from a single vendor, fast deployment with the possibility to gradually expand from a single virtual machine to a whole enterprise cluster. And a strong community on top.
A KVM + QEMU hypervisor is used for running virtual machines. KVM (Kernel-Based Virtual Machine) is a hypervisor built into a Linux kernel that uses CPU hardware virtualisation. Together with QEMU (Quick Emulator) at the user layer, KVM creates a running virtual machine.
LXC (Linux Containers) is used for operating system-level containerisation.
Proxmox allows working with various file systems and using common types of data storage, in particular:
- ZFS (Zettabyte File System) – a file system and disk volume manager in one. Its strengths include snapshot generation, replication, security, compression, and self-healing capabilities.
- Ceph – distributed SDS storage.
- NFS (Network File System) – a distributed file system protocol enabling file sharing between different systems.
- iSCSI (Internet SCSI) – a protocol for storage sharing over long distances via a network, using TCP/IP to transmit SCSI commands.
The Proxmox Backup Server, integrated into the Proxmox graphical user interface (GUI), provides a wide range of backup features, such as:
- Incremental backups and backup mode selection.
- End-to-end client-side encryption.
- Live Restore (rapid recovery) – the ability to start a virtual machine during restoration, significantly reducing downtime.
- Retention and maintenance.
A technological solution connecting virtualisation, storage, networks, and other IT resources into a single integrated system. It enables companies and organisations to simplify their overall IT infrastructure and increase efficiency and computing power, thereby reducing their total information system costs.
A network architecture that makes it possible to control the behaviour of a network as a whole using software, instead of having to configure each network element separately.
